On July 7th the Grand Master himself Karl Lagerfeld presented us his latest Haute Couture collection: Autumn & Winter 2015/16. The main hall of the Grand Palais was decorated in an Art Deco-inspired Casino. Ofcourse it was all about the handpicked items, but the 20 A-lister friends of the house (like Kristen Stewart, Vanessa Paradis & Lily-Rose Depp) surely completed the picture perfect.
“Fashion has to follow everything that goes on in the world” wise words spoken by mr. Lagerfeld when asked about this collection. For example: the iconic jacket has been redone with techniques that weren’t even imaginable before. Like 3D Selective Laser Sintering, that takes Haute Couture by the hand towards the future. He also underlines the craftmanship. Every piece is painted, embroided, satin-lined or edged with leather by hand. Hours and hours of hard work and dedication come together. And the result is absolutely magnificient. It is elegant, refined, and its simplicity is striking.
Karl Lagerfeld sees that this collection may be a little bit more fantasy than ready-to-wear, but points out that it is fantasy very much related to reality.
